The World Wide Web of Conferences - What’s Next?

May 17, 2008

Conferences, conferences, conferences, conferences…..you know how it goes. So many great conferences so little time/money..whatever. I just attended one of the first conferences on my target list for this spring/summer - PodCampNYC 2.0, and let me tell you how pumped up I am. I am so ready to set my publishing schedule, create my value wake, declare my space, get people talking, find my voice, flickr more, work more on wiki, network with new friends, get rid of the distractions, surround myself with like minded-successful people, collaborate, share and basically, just have some damn fun with all of this. Sounds like alot, I know. But, let me tell you something peeps, this is what it is all about. If you want to move into this space, you have to be prepared to learn from others, try new things, admit that you don’t know it all, seek advice, stay true to yourself, and get some consistency. Does Gatorade make a product that will help you accomplish all of this…no? oh well. There were so many great things that I would like to share in this one blog post but I am sure that this post would become too long. So, instead, I figured that I would work on a wiki page where you can review the notes that I took during the breakout sessions. I would invite fellow podcampers to contribute to this wiki, so that we can share what we learned with everyone who was not able to attend. It’s all about sharing, so let’s do that. Visit The Leet Geeks PCNYC2.0 Session Notes.

I walked away from this conference with so many great ideas and new found energy, that I wish I could bottle it up and mail it out to all of you who were unable to come to Brooklyn. If there was one thing that resonated throughout the conference, it was that you should be who you are and don’t worry about the mundane details. Just have fun with it and the success will follow.

I would like to thank my web buddies who dared to go on this adventure with me: @wirelesspacket, @techiegal, and @besttechie. I would also like to thank Gary Vaynerchuk for being so hospitable to a Houston, TX. fan of WLTV, when I stopped into the Wine Library on Thursday afternoon, before heading into Brooklyn for PCNYC2.0. @garyvee is a great human being - he is honest, humble, and grounded and I salute him for that. He is everything that he is on camera: a real dude with a real passion for life, family, and this crazy thing we all know as the internets. In fact, during our 30 minute chill session in Gary’s office, on the laid back friday couch, Gary turned the tables on what I thought was going to be me and wirelesspacket interviewing him and he began polling us for our interests and what we were doing. If you have ever wondered why this man’s name is all over the social media space, now you know. Big Ups to Gary Vaynerchuk! I look forward to the next time we run into each other. Hopefully sooner than later! Thanks for the wristbands and the pictures. Big Ups also to Drew Olanoff for delivering us from distractions, Andy Sernovitz for showing us the light in regards to Word of Mouth Marketing and also for being so damn funny. @Pistachio, Chris Brogan, Ustreamer Walt Ribiero, Josh and Jennifer from ODEO - thanks for the interview,
